The second annual SuperHero Summer Fest took place June 15 in Downtown Alhambra in support of the Music Saves Live charity, which engages in life saving activities such as blood donations and bone marrow registration. It was hosted by the Downtown Alhambra Business District in conjunction with Nerdbot, Toyzilla, and PopRock Academy.
DJ Lance Rock and The Awesome Band kicked off the festivities on the Main Stage with classic musical hits from his popular TV show, Yo Gabba Gabba. There were incredible musical performances from Marvel themed band Ragnarock and local Alhambra group Komeje Colective. Later in the day, the performers from PopRock Academy graced the stage for a variety of amazing choreographed dances.
3D printed trophies by Co-Kreeate were awarded to the winners of the Youth and Adult Cosplay contest. The event-sponsored activity Superhero Adventure took attendees on a tour of Alhambra’s downtown businesses. With every business visit of a store located on the Adventure map, the store rewarded the Superheroes with a stamp on their map. Anyone who collected all 20 stamps received the prize of a custom Superhero Summer Fest button and acrylic pin.
Aside from the great performances, there were more than 20 vendors and booths showcasing a wide variety of pop culture clothing and collectibles. It made the event a fun shopping experience for anyone in attendance.
