Music of every kind is heard in Brazil. Some of it is strictly regional, but much of it can be heard in several regions of the country. Some musical styles include samba, axe, MPB, choro, forro, frevo, bossa nova, brega, afoxe, and maracatu, to name a few. Classical music and operatic music also have a place in Brazil music, especially in the larger cities. Brazil 2018, under the leadership of Murray Middleman, will perform songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim, such as Girl from Ipanema and Wave, which was popularized in America by legendary Stan Getz and many other artists. Audience members may feel the urge to samba in the aisles.

Mr. Middleman is a world-class saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and jazz artist and is a product of a musical family. He worked in the jazz scene with many leading stars of jazz, including Buddy Rich, Al Grey, and Jimmy Forest from the Count Basie Orchestra. He also performed with jazz organists Shirley Scott and Don Patterson, along with drummer Bobby Durham, who was a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio. Mr. Middleman’s fusion Band Free Flight was invited to perform a live concert in Philadelphia for John Lennon of the Beatles. He also toured with Philly soul singer Teddy Pendergrass.

Mr. Middleman relocated to Pasadena in 1982, where he performed with the music icons Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. He has toured with The Glenn Miller Orchestra and was part of a Los Angeles Brazilian band, Mariza, with Marietta Waters (member of Sergio Mendez band). In 1984, he founded his music event company, Park Avenue West Entertainment, in Los Angeles. He was appointed the music coordinator for Glendale’s Brand Library Chamber Music Concert Series, where he created a concert series and performed three master concerts. Herecorded his first debut CD project entitled With Love to The Legends featuring his exciting saxophone and clarinet jazz performances, along with 30 of Los Angeles’ best studio and jazz musicians. His second CD is an original collection of his compositions played in a contemporary jazz setting. The CD is called Love Songs for The Galaxy and features Bill Cantos, Rique Pantoja.

Multi-instrumentalist, award-winning composer, vocalist, and producer Stephan Oberhoff enjoys a successful and multi-faceted career in Los Angeles. He is a frequent collaborator with internationally acclaimed artists such as Brenda Russell, Burt Bacharach, Melissa Manchester, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil and numerous other iconic artists. Before his move to the U.S., he garnered the coveted "Golden Lion" Award marking the No.1 position of a high-ranking nationwide commercial success for Bahlsen Co. He also created (with the brilliant lyricist Evkathrin Pahnke) one of the longest running TV and radio commercials in the history of European TV and radio media: "Merci Dass Es Dich Gibt" (Merci That There Is You) which was, during its long run, chosen to be released as a single recording under his name, featuring his extraordinary abilities as a vocalist and composer. After returning from an extended sabbatical in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Mr. Oberhoff has spent a lot of time in various studios in L.A. in co-production with Quincy Jones in the quest of completing a ground-breaking pop album for Jason Gould (son of Barbra Streisand). His recently released Brazilian CD, Applauding the Sunset, emphasizes the compositional and instrumental skill and refined production background he uses to showcase his extraordinary keyboard and guitar performances, which have been amply "road-tested," performing live with Melissa Manchester, Brenda Russell, Jeffrey Osborne, Doc Powell, Everette Harp, and many otherj and R&B greats, as well as the stellar album Paris Rain, co-produced by Brenda Russell and Mr. Oberhoff.
